Yale: 2013 – 2014 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Yale University New Haven, CT  — Yale only lost three of its starters from last season to graduation, but where those players competed on the ladder poses some challenges. “We are rebuilding our program after graduating our numbers 1, 2, and 3, but we are very confident that we will be in contention for a national championship as we know what our players are capable of stepping up to,” says associate head coach Pam Saunders. “Our men are also determined to be good sportsmen on and off the court. You will not find a team that works harder and has more fun doing it.” There will be four new Bulldogs on the roster. Kah Wah Cheong is expected to play in the top 6, Thomas Dembinski and Liam McClintock are expected to play in the top 9, and Derek Lo will be competing for a spot in the top 10. Yale wants to win the Ivy and national titles, but that’s not all. One of the team’s goals is to “be the best scholars and global citizens that we can.” Toward that end, the players will continue their involvement with SquashHaven, which is housed out of Yale. Each team member volunteers at least an hour with the program, and many players are involved beyond that, serving as mentors and helping in other ways.
