Wesleyan: 2012 – 2013 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Middletown, CT — “Fulfilling individual potential, helping others achieve their potential and exuding excellence are at the core of what we do and represent,” head coach Shona Kerr says of the Wesleyan women, a comment that applies to the Cardinals’ squash program as a whole. Fulfilling potential might bring Wesleyan back to the C Division finals, where they fell 2-7 to George Washington last season. The 2012-2013 edition of the Cardinals will feature all but one of the players who competed in the 2012 Walker Cup final, plus two new faces: Bridget Doherty and Claire Miller.  Kerr is optimistic about the team’s prospects: “The team continually evolves and develops and with a maturing squad this is an exciting time for the Wesleyan women’s team.” The Cardinals will be shooting for the B Division, but if they don’t make the cut, expect them to be serious contenders for the Walker Cup. Before championship season kicks off, the team can look forward to a week-long training trip with the men’s team. This year’s destination is yet to be announced, but in recent years the Cardinals have travelled to Arizona and California.
