Washington: 2012 — 2013 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Seattle, WA — New players with plenty of squash experience will strengthen the University of Washington team. “We are excited about this year as we now have five players who have played competitive squash before arriving at UW, including two high level female players who play on our coed team,” says coach Michael Bishop. First-year Claudia Regio and sophomore Kaija Perkiomaki both come with junior experience and should make an immediate impact on the team. Jai Padmakumar, another first-year player, should find a spot in the top two-thirds of the ladder, and senior Chad Rixse will compete for a spot in the bottom three. The team will compete in the Navy Round Robin in the fall and the West Coast Round Robin in the winter; the Huskies will be looking to reverse a 4-5 loss to Cal from last season. Bishop is as enthusiastic about the program as he is the season: “We are at a great university in a great city with a terrific local squash community and excellent facilities.”
