Northampton, MA — For the week ending 12/11/2011, Mount Holyoke’s  Shaheen Madraswala and Penn’s Thomas Mattsson have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].

A Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players by contacting Michael T. Bello. Nominations are due each Monday by 6 PM ET.

As the semester wound down last week, there were a number of critical matches. This week’s [hpow] helped their teams capture crucial victories prior to the holiday intermission.

On the season, Madraswala has a 7-2 record, including going undefeated (4-0) at the Wesleyan Round Robin. At the round robin, she had a four-game victory over Brown’s Mina Shakarsky.

Thomas Mattsson (Penn): Mattsson, Penn’s co-captain, had crucial wins in the Quakers’ victories over Navy and Williams. Against Navy, Mattsson began his match with his team down 2-4. His four-game victory helped propel Penn to a 5-4 win. Against Williams, the match was tied 3-3 when Mattsson entered the court. Again, he captured his match in four games and helped Penn secure a 6-3 victory.
