Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week (11/14/2011)

Northampton, MA — For the week ending 11/13/2011, Jacqueline Zhou (Smith College) and Rod Maier (Bucknell University) have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].

A Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players by contacting Michael T. Bello. Nominations are due each Monday by 6 PM ET.

With limited matches played to date, a few late nominations were reviewed.

Rod Maier (Bucknell University): At the Navy Round Robin, Maier went 3-1. He earned victories over Fordham, Virginia, and Swarthmore.  In the Navy match, Bucknell was shutout; however, Maier came the closest to winning a game. Against David Koenig at the #6 position, Maier lost 11-6, 13-11, and 11-8.

Jacqueline Zhou (Smith College): Zhou, a first-year student at Smith, went 2-0 on the weekend. She led the Pioneers to a 5-4 victory over Wellesley.  At the #1 position, Zhou faced Emma Haley. The two players had an intense five-game match. Zhou emerged victorious 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-6, and 11-8. She also earned a victory against Haverford.
