Brown: 2011 – 2012 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Providence, RI — After finishing as runners-up to Dartmouth in the 2010 B Division finals, Brown took the Kurtz Cup back to Providence with a 6-3 win over Williams last season.

This season the Bears are shooting for the A Division, and their opponents in the last two Kurtz Cup finals — Dartmouth and Williams — will be crucial match-ups, with Cornell, Columbia, and Bates important contests as well.

But Brown has goals that reach beyond winning. “The Brown men and women’s teams have been awarded over 20 CSA Scholar Athlete awards in the last 3 years and we hope to improve on that in the coming years,” says head coach Stuart leGassick. “Our squash players take pride in fostering the team aspect of college squash and make friends for life.”

The Bears will also have a new assistant coach this year, Pete Avitable, who most recently was an assistant at Connecticut College.
