Bowdoin: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Brunswick, ME — In baseball there are clutch hitters, and in squash you could say there are clutch players. Bowdoin is a clutch team.

To win the 2011 Summers Cup, Bowdoin pulled out three 5-4 wins in a row. The Polar Bears beat NESCAC rivals Colby and Amherst by one-match margins in the opening round and semifinals of  C Division play at the Men’s National Team Championships. They then went to the wire against George Washington in the finals, coming out with the 5-4 win.

All that experience under pressure should serve the returning Polar Bears well this season. The team has lost two seniors and will gain four incoming players who all have a chance of playing in the starting lineup. The newcomers are Maxwell Bearse of Tabor, Jamie Conner of Groton, Philip Koch of Exeter, and Andrew Ward of St. Mark’s.

“Come and watch us play,” invites head coach Tomas Fortson.
