Cornell: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Ithaca, NY — There’s a lot for Cornell fans to be positive about this year: the top 6 players from last season are returning, including Nick Sachvie, who made it to the Pool Trophy finals at last season’s individual championships and was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

“We hope to improve and get stronger every year,” says head coach Mark Devoy. The additions to the roster should help further that goal. Senior Will Hartigan will be back in the line-up after a year’s absence. Aditya Jagtap, a top Indian junior who competed on the Indian junior team in 2008 and 2010, will be joining the team and should be playing in the top order of the roster. Ryan Todd, who has been highly ranked as a Canadian junior, will join Hartigan somewhere in the middle of the line-up. Matthew Shang (Brunswick), Jay Lindseth (Lawrenceville), and Carter Clarke (Potomac) are expected to add more depth to the bottom of the order.

The team will be traveling to San Francisco for winter break, and like all Ivy teams will have to adjust to the new Ivy League schedule, which has schools playing multiple league matches in a single weekend.
