Charlottesville, VA — After pulling out of the 2010-2011 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup), the University of Virginia is looking to return to the tournament this season.The student-run club team will have seven players from last season returning, and will also have at least one new player with squash experience: Hilary Gray of the Baldwin School.
“Every person on our team really enjoys the college squash experience because we push one another to be improve,” says captain Kelly Whelan, a junior. “The main focus of our team is having fun together (on road trips, weekend trips, at practice and at social events) while playing a sport that we all immensely enjoy in a competitive environment.”
“We are really looking to expand on our program and field a competitive team this year,” she adds. “We are all very excited for this season!”

In addition to Hilary Gray, other new faces on the Hoos squad include: Benita Von Lilienfeld-Berry from St. Anne’s-Belfield school; Lindsay Bond from St. Paul’s School in Baltimore; Alyssa Merski from Holton-Arms School, Annaliesa Routh from The Lawrenceville School; Celia Dyer from Tabor Academy; and Myriam Amarray from Lycee General Leclerc in Lyon, France.
