Boston University: 2009 – 2010 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

buBoston, MA – For some new club teams, simply making it to the National Team Championships with a full 9-player roster is a major accomplishment. Last season, BU’s first as an official club program, the Terriers won the consolation finals of the Serues Cup (F Division), finishing the season ranked 45th. This year, the team aims to move up 10 spots in the rankings.

It’s an ambitious goal, but sophomore captain Miller Knott, who played number 1 for the Terriers last season, is confident his squad is up for the challenge. “The schedule we have put together has us competing with teams that, by rank, should beat us,” he says. “However, we believe we have the talent to be a very competitive squash team.”

BU returns its top three players from last season, plus three others from the bottom half of the ladder. Four players from last season’s championship roster have graduated, including former captain Tribbie Nassikas, who played number 4. The Terriers will be holding tryouts in December and hope to fill in the rest of the roster then.

BU will compete at the Bowdoin round robin, and performing well that weekend will be the key to positioning the team for a successful campaign at Nationals.
