Boston College: 2009 – 2010 College Squash Season Preview

bcChestnut Hill, MA — Squash has arrived at Boston College. Over the past four years, Boston College students have played squash with the hopes of forming a team.   The dedicated group of players has been rewarded for their hard work by being recognized by Boston College as an official club sport.  The team intends to play a number of competitive matches this fall and winter, culminating with the participation in both the men’s National Team Championships and the women’s Howe Cup.

Last season, the Boston College women played matches with Smith, Wellesley, and Mount Holyoke during the regular season.  The Eagles sent a team to compete in the five-player Emerging Teams division at Howe Cup.  The squad finished third in the division and ranked thirty-fifth overall.

After achieving the ranking of forty-fourth at the conclusion of the 2007-2008 season, the Boston College men’s team did not make it to the National Team Championships last season.  This season, the Eagles plan to return to the National Team Championships and add more matches to their regular season schedule.

Boston College currently practices on two hardball courts.  They are attempting to find international courts to practice on in the Chestnut Hill area.
