William Smith: 2009 – 2010 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

williamsmithGeneva, NY — The past four seasons have brought a lot of hardware to Geneva, New York.  After all, the William Smith Herons have captured two Walker Cups and last season’s Epps Cup.  For 2009 – 2010, the team has its sights set on capturing the Liberty League Championship and returning to the Walker Cup.

Senior Emily Hazenberg will serve as the Herons’ captain. She will lead an experienced team that returns ten players from last season. The team will also welcome three first-year students, Olivia Beckwith, Courtney Leous, and Julia Steck, who are expected to compete for positions in the middle of the team’s ladder.

Charitable endeavors are important to the William Smith squad.  Individual Herons players have participated in the “America Reads” program and HWS “Day of Service.”  Last season, the team even raised money to buy a local girl presents for the holidays.

The Herons are ready for the 2009 – 2010 season.
