Week 4 Recap: Action-Packed Weekend Before the Break

Week 4 Recap: Action-Packed Weekend Before the Break

Week 4 delivered another packed weekend of action, with 41 matches played across the College Squash Association—one of the busiest stretches of the season so far. Fans were treated to close contests, competitive matchups between closely ranked teams, and several notable results across both divisions.

The depth of competition brought great energy around the league and highlighted the excitement of the early season, as programs continued to showcase strong play and momentum.

With Thanksgiving week bringing a brief pause in the schedule, matches will resume in December—setting the stage for an exciting stretch ahead as the season continues.

No. 3 Penn Women Defeats No. 4 Stanford

No. 3 Penn defeated No. 4 Stanford 8–1 in a rematch of last year’s split results, but the scoreline masked just how tight the showdown was, with six of the nine matches going the full five games. Penn jumped out to a 4–0 lead in the first rotation and continued to edge out marathon wins throughout the lineup, while Stanford claimed its lone point at No. 8. In one of the closest early-season battles between top contenders, Penn’s ability to win the biggest moments proved decisive—and this matchup may well resurface later in the season.

No 8 Drexel Men Defeats No. 6 Princeton

No. 8 Drexel earned a signature 6–3 win over No. 6 Princeton, rallying from a tight mid-match deficit to sweep the final stretch and clinch one of the biggest victories in program history. With several momentum-shifting battles—including a pivotal win at No. 9 and a clincher at No. 4—the Dragons fed off a charged home atmosphere to close out the upset. The result cemented Drexel as a rising threat in the top 10 and delivered a statement early in the season.

Around the League:

  • No. 28 Haverford Men delivered a notable upset, edging No. 25 St. Lawrence, 5–4.

  • Stanford Women opened their season with a demanding three-match road swing against Drexel, Penn, and Princeton.

  • Vassar College played host to Haverford and St. Lawrence in a weekend round robin.

  • No. 4 Stanford Women earned a standout early-season win, upsetting No. 2 Princeton.

  • No. 3 Penn Women capped the weekend by holding off No. 4 Stanford and No. 6 Virginia, staying undefeated on the year.

As the CSA heads into this brief off week, we wish everyone across the college squash community a very Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time with friends, family, and a well-earned chance to relax. We’re excited to pick competition back up in December and look forward to an action-packed return to the courts.
