College squash is officially back. While it’s a light weekend on the calendar, with five men’s matches and two women’s matches scheduled, the start of the season carries exciting momentum, particularly in the Midwest.
Denison University will host both the University of Virginia and the University of Rochester in Granville, Ohio, marking an exciting start to the new season and a welcome spotlight on college squash in the region. Having two established varsity programs travel to Ohio for their season openers provides a great showcase for the sport and helps amplify the enthusiasm for college squash in this part of the country.
After the matches in Granville on Friday and Saturday, UVA will continue on to Pittsburgh, where they will face the Chatham University men’s and women’s teams on Sunday. The match will also mark the debut of Chatham’s new head coach, Yuri Franca, who takes the helm this season.
It’s a great opening weekend for college squash, highlighted by exciting matchups, new beginnings, and a spotlight on the Midwest. The season is officially underway, and fans can follow the scores on Club Locker.
