CSA Updates Team Rankings to Close First Half of 23-24 Season

The first half of the 2023-2024 College Squash Association (CSA) season has reached its conclusion, highlighted by the release of the final rankings update of 2023. The opening six weeks of the collegiate squash season were filled with intense and thrilling matches, leading to several significant shifts in the rankings.

In the women’s category, notable changes occurred among teams ranked 4^th to 8^th. The University of Pennsylvania emerged as a standout, climbing from 8^th in the preseason rankings to the 4^th. Their impressive ascent was fueled by victories over Drexel, Stanford, and UVA, setting them up as a team to watch when the season resumes in 2024.

On the men’s side, Hobart, Navy, and Dickinson all scored crucial victories against higher ranked opponents over the past few weeks, sparking large jumps for all three teams.

The middle rankings, from 14^th to 17^th saw an interesting reshuffling, which was complicated by Hobart’s impressive victory over Rochester and their large jump in ranking. Ultimately, due to the circular win-loss pattern for these four teams – Rochester had beat Western and MIT but lost to Hobart, while Hobart had beat Rochester but lost to Western and MIT – their ranking order was determined by a calculation akin to a round-robin tiebreaker.
