Vassar: 2018-2019 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

In the 2017-2018 season, the Vassar Men’s Squash team had the most number of wins in a season since 2012 and the most in any season of Head Coach David Ames’s tenure in Poughkeepsie. With two wins at the CSA team championships in February, Ames and his squad will look to carry that end-of-season momentum into this year.  Vassar’s roster is certainly constructed to improve on last year’s ranking. Nine out of the ten starters who played at the team championships return to the ladder for this season, losing the only senior from last year’s roster, Alex Riccio.  Add to that experienced returning group a cadre of six new players, and Vassar has the makings of an experienced, battle-tested group who will aim for increased success in 2019.  The Brewers already have several matches under their belt for this year with mixed results.  They lost their first three matches at home to open the season, but have since bounced back with three straight victories.  They will look to maintain their momentum this weekend against Hudson Valley rival Bard College.
