Virginia: 2018-2019 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

As the University of Virginia continues to build its squash programs into formidable varsity programs, one may mark the 2018-2019 season as the year they laid the foundation to jump yet another level.  While losing program taliswoman Carey Danforth to graduation will be tough, the nine other members of the starting lineup from last year’s 13th-ranked team return to provide a solid foundation.  Add to that group three very strong incoming recruits with championship pedigrees and UVA could have the makings for a Top-10 finish at the end of this coming year.  Coach Mark Allen is enthusiastic about his women’s team for this year while keeping the main goal modest and attainable – to improve on last year’s ranking by at least one place. Virginia will host the first Mid-Atlantic Squash Championship, where they will meet George Washington (among others) in a critical battle for that Top-10 place.
