Washington: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Washington, University of Seattle, WA — Washington only lost one player from last season’s Men’s College Squash Association National Team Championships. According to head coach Michael Bishop, “Last year’s team was our most cohesive and balanced team in many years, and this year’s goal is to continue that, to have fun, and hopefully to move up a few spots in the rankings.” The Huskies are adding Kristen Lange, former Penn #1 and recently retired professional, as an on-court coach for the team. In addition, Washington is expanding their schedule. The squad will travel to Minnesota, the Naval Academy, and Stanford for regular season round robin events. One of the team’s tri-captains will be Claudia Regio, a former top junior player. Regio continues Washington’s eight-year streak of having at least one woman in the line-up. Matches with Fordham, Richmond, and Minnesota will be key for the season. If the Washington squad can take advantage of additional matches, look for the Huskies to be knocking on the door of a top-40 finish.
