Palo Alto, CA — Stanford put an exclamation point on the month of November last season by upsetting Trinity, 5-4. The Cardinal team lost 4-5 to Yale to finish as the Howe Cup consolation runner up at the Women’s College Squash Association National Team Championships and concluded the season ranked 6th in the nation. As recognition for their improvement last season, Stanford was given the Most Improved Team Award. According to head coach Mark Talbott, the team’s goal is “to improve on last year’s ranking and try to crack the top 5.” That appears to be a real possibility. Stanford, famous for flying to the east coast constantly throughout the season, will have a number of home matches this year. “We have home matches scheduled this year with Harvard, Yale, and Penn. These are the strongest opponents we have ever hosted at Stanford,” explains Talbott. CC Ho will serve as one of the Cardinal tri-captains. “What makes CC special is her compassion and demeanor. She is kind, gentle, and sensitive to her teammates. She is admired and respected by all those that come in contact with her on and off court. She is a true sportsperson in every sense of the word and a coach’s dream to help bring a team together, ” states Talbott. With a strong recruiting class, Stanford could finish the season in the top half of the Howe Cup.
