Dickinson: 2016 – 2017 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Dickinson College Carlisle, PA — It is hard to believe that this will only be Dickinson’s third season. After all, they captured the E Division at the 2014 – 2015 Women’s College Squash Association National Team Championships, and last season, they were finalists in the Epps Cup (D Division). Last season’s success was hampered by players studying abroad and injuries. According to head coach Chris Sachvie, the “team lost a few key players in the second semester of last season, with Patricia Francis-Hall and Merritt Davis studying abroad and Domenica Romo sidelined with an injury. Returning these players and adding two first-years will give our team more depth throughout our entire lineup.” The Red Devils know that the only way to move up the rankings is by scheduling teams close in to them. “We will have eight key matches this season against teams who finished within 5 or 6 spots above and below us,” explains Sachvie. Last season, Dickinson split its two 5-4 matches. With the experience gained over the past two seasons, the Red Devils are looking forward to capitalizing and winning their close matches to move up the rankings.  If the Red Devils can avoid the injury bug, watch for Dickinson to be in the hunt for a position in the middle of the Walker Cup.
