Dartmouth: 2016 – 2017 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Dartmouth College Hanover, NH — Two seasons ago, Dartmouth was the runner-up in the Kurtz Cup (B Division) at the Women’s College Squash Association National Team Championships, and last season, they won the Kurtz Cup. Dartmouth would like to continue their steady improvement and return to the Howe Cup, which they last played for in the 2013 – 2014 season. The Big Green lost two players to graduation, but is expecting five talented first year players to compete for spots in the ladder. “We are very excited to start working with the class of 2020 and look forward to seeing the impact these young women will have on Big Green Squash,” head coach Hansi Wiens told Dartmouth Sports. To make the Howe Cup, Dartmouth will have to continue its strong performances in tight matches. Last season, the Big Green went 3 for 4 in 5-4 matches, including avenging a 4-5 regular season loss to Drexel with a 5-4 win in the Kurtz Cup final. Although Dartmouth is eyeing matches with Harvard and Princeton, it must remain focused on matches with Brown, Cornell, Drexel, and Stanford to make this season a success.
