Northampton, MA — For the week ending 1/24/2016, Tufts’ Zarena Jafry and St. Lawrence’s Ness Billimoria have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].

Zarena Jafry (Tufts University): Tufts visited Western Massachusetts on Saturday for matches with William Smith and Mount Holyoke. First-year student Zarena Jafry earned crucial individual victories for the Jumbos. Facing William Smith’s Michaelann Denton at the #2 position, Jafry won in five games (7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 7-11, and 11-1) to help Tufts earn a 5-4 victory over the higher-ranked Herons. Against Mount Holyoke’s Allison Shilling, Jafry added a three-game victory (11-1, 11-3, and 11-6).

Ness Billimoria (St. Lawrence University): Last Monday, senior Ness Billimoria played a crucial role in St. Lawrence’s match with Harvard. Playing Jack Cooper in the match at the #8 position, Billimoria rebounded from a 1-2 game deficit to capture the match in five games (11-5, 5-11, 8-11, 11-5, and 11-9). In addition, the Saints won the top four ladder positions to defeat the Crimson, 5-4. St. Lawrence now holds a 3-2 all-time record against Harvard. Billimoria also defeated Cornell’s Andrew Stone on Saturday (6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, and 11-7).
