Medford, MA — After finishing third in the Chaffee Cup (E Division), Tufts is looking to utilize last season’s experiences and move up in the rankings. The Jumbos are focused on NESCAC matches, as well as contests with Stanford, MIT, Boston College, Northeastern, Bucknell, Haverford, and Fordham. According to head coach Joe McManus, these matches “will give an early indication as to how the season will unfold.” The team is returning 8 players from last season’s Team Championship line-up, including 3rd year captain Zachary Schweitzer. Last season, Tufts’ victories came at the top of the ladder. The top 3 won 59% of their matches, while the middle and bottom 3 captured 29% and 13%, respectively. This season’s ladder should be deeper. Three new players are expected to compete for positions throughout the top 9. This should be a great benefit for the Jumbos and help them improve.
