Amherst: 2014 – 2015 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Amherst CollegeAmherst, MA — After winning the Walker Cup (C Division) at the 2014 National Team Championships, Amherst has big plans for this season. The Jeffs plan to enter the Kurtz Cup (B Division) and win the Little Three Championship. The last time Amherst won the Little Three was in 2000. Critical to accomplishing these goals will be matches with Williams and Wesleyan. The Jeffs are also focused on matches with Brown, Bates, Drexel, Middlebury, and Hamilton. Last season, Amherst’s top 3 captured 33% of their matches, compared to 56% and 65% for the middle 3 and lower 3. With three players expected to join the squad, including two players expected to play in the top 3, look for the win percentages throughout the ladder to improve. This should make the ladder stronger, and the Jeffs may be able to accomplish both of their goals.
