Middlebury Names Mike Morgan Interim Squash Coach

Middlebury CollegeMiddlebury, VT — Middlebury College has named Mike Morgan as its interim men’s and women’s squash coach for the 2014 – 2015 season. Morgan takes over for John Illig, who passed away suddenly in early August.

I am incredibly humbled and honored to help in this tough transition time for the squash programs,” said Morgan. “No one will ever be able to replace all that John brought to these programs. I hope I can help in the smallest ways by paying forward some of the love for teaching, sportsmanship, and his love for the outdoors that John brought every single day to his teams,” Morgan told Middlebury Athletics.

Morgan is the Middlebury women’s tennis coach. He has led the Panthers’ tennis team to 98-51 record over the past eight seasons.

Upon arriving at Middlebury in 2006, Morgan coached the Middlebury women’s squash team to a 12-7 record. He also served as an assistant squash coach while at Colby College.
