Hadley, MA — Earlier this spring, the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its 2013-2014 All-Conference men’s squash team.
Bates sophomore Ahmed Abdel Khalek earned his second consecutive Player of the Year honor. He went undefeated on the season and helped the Bobcats to a season-ending national ranking of 13th.
Abdel Khalek’s teammate, Ahmed Hatata, was honored as the Rookie of the Year. He went 17-3 in his inaugural campaign. At the individual championships, he won the Pool Trophy (A Draw) first round consolation bracket. Hatata was named a Second Team All-American.
Seniors Martin Bawden (Hamilton), Stephan Danyluk (Bowdoin), Parker Hurst (Middlebury), and John Steele (Wesleyan) all concluded their collegiate careers by being named to the All-NESCAC squads. Steele was a four-time NESCAC First Team member and the 2011 NESCAC Rookie of the Year.
Wesleyan head coach Shona Kerr was named the Coach of the Year. She guided the Cardinals to a season-ending national ranking of 19th. Kerr was also named NESCAC coach of the year in 2011.
