  • Player: Susan Stephenson (Gates)
  • Inducted: 1995, WCSA Hall of Fame
  • School: Wheaton College, Class of 1967
  • Individual Championships: 1966 and 1967

As a student at Wheaton College (Norton, MA), Susan Stephenson won the 1966 and 1967 intercollegiate singles championships. She was the first woman to win back-to-back singles titles.

Stephenson was an active squash player and met Mohibula Kahn, the pro at the Harvard Club in Boston, at a tournament in her home state of Delaware.  Since Wheaton did not have squash courts, Kahn invited Stephenson to play at the Harvard Club. She was the first woman to play at the exclusive club.

NOTE: The College Squash Association is trying to determine the finalists for the 1965, 1966, 1967, and 1970 women’s individual finals. If you know who played in the finals, please contact the CSA.
