Northampton, MA — For the week ending 12/2/2012, Cara Kaufman (Wellesley) and Jay Dolan (Middlebury) have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].

Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players. Nominations are due each Monday by 6 PM ET.

Cara Kaufman (Wellesley College): Kaufman, a senior, went 1-1 on the weekend at the Wesleyan Invitational. With the Blue locked in a tight match with William Smith, Kaufman faced Molly Doran in the match at the #7 position. The two players battled back and forth. Kaufman was down 1-2 in games, but came back to capture the match in five games (4-11, 13-11, 7-11, 11-9, and 11-8). Wellesley defeated William Smith, 5-4.

Jay Dolan (Middlebury College): On Saturday, Dolan, Middlebury’s #1, faced Bowdoin’s Andrew Hilboldt. A few points into the match, Dolan sprained his ankle and was forced to retire. After a long night of treatment, he suited up against Drexel on Sunday. With the team match tied at 4-4, Dolan faced Drexel’s Ibrahim Bakir. After Dolan won the first two games, Bakir came back to capture the next two, and the match was tied 8-8 in the fifth game. Dolan won the individual and therefore the team match (11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, and 11-8), all on a sprained ankle.
