St. Lawrence: 2012 – 2013 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Canton, NY — 2012 was a banner year for St. Lawrence. The Saints had their best finish in program history, ending the season ranked 11th in the nation. With the improvement of new varsity programs like Columbia and Drexel drawing more attention, St. Lawrence’s performance has gone under the radar. But other teams would be unwise to overlook the Saints, who will return their entire starting line-up this year. At last year’s National Team Championships, the Saints proved their grit and resiliency, holding off Middlebury 5-4, narrowly losing to Penn 4-5, and rebounding with another 5-4 win over Williams. The margins may not be so close this year, as first-year Ness Billimoria is expected to play in the top 3, and fellow newcomers Tim Lasusa, Javier Fonseca, and Barton Mackey will be competing for spots in the starting line-up. St. Lawrence is eyeing a top 10 finish this year, and it may be well within reach.
