Bucknell: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Lewisburg, PA — Bucknell squash has made significant gains since the program was started three years ago, climbing from 55th in the nation during their first season to 42nd last year. In 2011-2012 the Bison had a win over Vassar, a varsity program, as well as a near win over Johns Hopkins, who finished the season ranked 38th. To top it all off, the Bison defeated Boston University 5-4 to win the Serues Cup (F Division).

“The Bucknell Squash team is looking forward to its fourth season and first as a university funded program,” says senior Kirk Bonner, who has been a driving force behind the program’s growth. “Lying near two hotbeds for squash and seeing only one player graduate, we are exited to have a more competitive ladder this season then ever.”  The fact that this will be the first year Bucknell squash has been a university-funded program should give the team an added boost and bodes well its long-term health.
