Johns Hopkins: 2011 – 2012 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Baltimore, MD — Johns Hopkins made a big move up the rankings last season. “Moving up over 20 places up the rankings last season, it’s only going to get tougher and our team is hungry for more,” says Yen Theng Tan, who does double duty as a player and coach for the student-run club team.

The Blue Jays finished 59th in 2010, their first year competing in the soft-ball era. The team vaulted up two divisions to finish sixth in the E Division, 38th overall. “Our program started in the winter of 2010 and is about 2 years old,” Tan notes. “Nonetheless, we are moving quickly towards becoming one of the more established club teams around.”

The team plans to have a more structured practice schedule this season and will continue to be actively involved with SquashWise, a Baltimore-based urban squash program.
