This past weekend’s matches in Boston created movement in the rankings.  Wellesley opened the season 4-0 with wins over Northeastern, Boston College, Smith College, and Haverford.  These wins vaulted Wellesley from 30th to 28th in the rankings, leapfrogging both Northeastern and Smith.

Smith College defeated Northeastern 6-3 in its season opener.  With their 4-5 loss to Wellesley, Smith remained 29th in the rankings. The Northeastern Huskies dropped two spots to 30th.  With Wellesley and Smith scheduled to play several more times this season, the two squads are set for intense competition.
