Northampton, MA — Today, the 2010 – 2011 Men’s College Squash Preseason Team rankings were released.
Trinity remains the top team in the nation. The Bantams look to extend their 224-match winning streak and earn their 13th consecutive national title (Potter Cup) this season. With increasing parity in the top five, Trinity will be challenged by Yale (#2), Princeton (#3), Rochester (#4), and Harvard (#5).
Franklin and Marshall moves up one spot to number 10 in the preseason rankings. F&M has three new players poised to play in the top of their ladder. Like the Diplomats, George Washington’s additions have moved the Colonials from 20th to 19th in the rankings.
Stanford (#22) and Denison (#24), the top two club teams in the nation, are set to play in mid-November. Dension is looking to avenge their 3-6 loss to Stanford at the 2010 Summers Cup (C Division) at the Men’s National Team Championships.
Nine schools improved in the rankings from last season: Franklin and Marshall, Brown, George Washington, Hobart, Northeastern, Columbia, Swathmore, USC, and Vermont. The following schools dropped spots in the rankings: Williams, Tufts, Conn College, Colgate, Kenyon, Cal Berkeley, Virginia, UNC, and Bard.
Preseason rankings were based heavily on the team questionnaires returned for the 2010 – 2011 Season Previews, which included information on graduating and incoming players, and offseason training opportunities. Select schools have already commenced their seasons. The results of these early matches were not factored into the preseason rankings.
Below are the 2010 – 2011 Men’s College Squash Association preseason team rankings. Listed after each school’s name is their final ranking from last season.

Last season’s Emerging Teams, five-person squads at the Men’s National Team Championships, will be ranked once they compete with nine players during the 2010 – 2011 regular season. By order of finish at last season’s championships, these schools include Tulane University, Johns Hopkins University, Ithaca College, University of Illinois (Springfield), and Siena College. In addition, schools that did not compete in championships last season, such as Brandeis University and the University of Maryland, will be ranked once they compete in a nine-player match this season.
