Hamilton: 2010 – 2011 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Clinton, NY — Hamilton will have a number of new faces in their line-up this season, some of them familiar.

Three players will be returning from studying abroad: Leila Clifford-Ong, Danielle Forsyth, and Jane Hannon. Clifford-Ong played 2 and 3 for the Continentals during the 2009-2010 season, and Forsyth played 3 and 4. Hannon, who was abroad last spring, played 10 last fall in Hamilton’s season-opening win over Bowdoin.

The Continentals will also be welcoming a number of first-year players. They include St. Paul’s Kelsey Bogle, St. George’s Hannah Coffin, Friends School of Baltimore’s Hillary Kolodner, Middlesex’s Laura Russell, and Groton’s Virginia Walsh. Bogle was ranked 68th GU19 in the US last season, Coffin was ranked 70th, Russell 79th, and Kolodner  87th.

The first-years will be joining a team that lost four varsity players to graduation last season, among them three-time All-NESCAC honoree and Hamilton number 1 Kelly Whipple. But given the number of incoming players and the experience of the returners, Hamilton should be able to adjust and may be able to improve upon their sixth-place finish at last year’s NESCAC championships.
