Jack Wyant to Head Penn’s Men’s and Women’s Squash Programs

Philadelphia, PA — University of Pennsylvania Director of Athletics Steve Bilsky recently announced that Jack Wyant has been named head coach for the men’s and women’s squash teams.

Wyant has coached the Penn women for the past six years, and he guided the Quakers to the finals of the 2009-2010 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup). He will continue to coach the women in addition to taking on the Penn men, succeeding former men’s coach Craig Thorpe-Clark, who announced that he was leaving Penn earlier this summer.

“I am excited about the opportunity and anxious to get to work,” Wyant said in a statement published on PennAthletics.com:

“I was attracted to the men’s coaching position for the same reasons that brought me to Penn in the first place — the caliber of student-athlete and the opportunity to win. Both of these teams are the priority, and our immediate goal is to put together a staff and plan that will allow us to maximize each team’s potential.

“I felt privileged to work alongside Craig (Thorpe-Clark) for six years,” Wyant added. “I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to succeed him and I hope that he stays close to the program. He provided stability to the men’s program for 11 years, developed many great players, and left a number of very talented athletes.”
