Kenyon: 2009 – 2010 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

kenyonGambier, OH — Last season, Kenyon College marched through the Serues Cup (F Division) of the National Team Championships. The Lords defeated Vermont, Vassar, and Purdue to finish the championships and the season ranked 41st in the nation.

This season, Kenyon looks to continue its success and has a competitive schedule lined up. The Lords will compete at the Denison Open, which will include potential matches with the Naval Academy, Northwestern, and  Western Ontario.  In addition, a road trip to Philadelphia for matches with Drexel and Haverford is set for November.

Peter Dumbadze and Michael Shea will captain the Lords this season.  They will lead a team that returns eight of the nine players that competed in last season’s National Team Championships. In addition, the team expects its new team members, Eric Milborne, Rob Mueller, and Michael Sharpe, to have an impact on the lineup.

Kenyon’s goal is to improve its ranking and earn a spot in the Chaffee Cup (E Division).  Given last season’s performance in the Serues Cup, this goal is a possibility.  In addition, Kenyon would like to create a competitive rivalry with Denison University, its close neighbor. In recent years, Denison has dominated the series.
