Purdue: 2009-2010 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

purdueWest Lafayette, IN — The Purdue Boilermakers were ready for last season’s National Team Championships. After all, the squad had over twelve hours to mentally prepare for the event as they drove from Indiana to New Jersey. The team defeated Boston University and Fordham University before losing to Kenyon College in the Serues Cup finals. Purdue finished the season ranked 42nd.

This season, the Boilermakers, who return six players from last season, will be captained by Sharma. In addition, Rudra Shriram, Sanket Dal, and Kunal Raheja are expected to join the squad.

The Boilermakers’ players are dedicated to the sport. They fund their own college squash experience, paying for travel and hotel expenses. This season, the team is planning a training trip to Illinois’ Lake Forest Club.

The players’ hard work has increased the popularity of squash in West Lafayette. This summer, wait times at the University’s courts were 30 minutes to an hour.

Purdue is looking forward to playing a variety of regular season matches against fellow Midwestern schools: Indiana, Notre Dame, Kenyon, and Northwestern. The squad is even hosting a round robin in late September.
