Charleston, SC — “We’re a small but ambitious team in it for a love of the game. With the help of a decorated new coach, we intend to become more serious competition and establish a solid foothold in the next division,” says Patrick Hackett of his team, the College of Charleston. The coach in question is Richard Millman, who should be well known to squash fans as a player, coach, and advocate for the game. Charleston plans to move up a division and improve in the national rankings this season, and an increased training schedule should help the team work toward their goals. Sewanee, Vanderbilt, and UVA will be key matches on the Cougars’ schedule. “All three are excellent teams of similar rank and skill to ourselves,” explains Hackett. “Our matches against Sewanee and Vanderbilt last season were close, and allowed players on both sides to showcase their best abilities.” Chris Calligan of Conestoga High School will be joining the team this year and is expected to play number 3 or 4.
