No. 29 Connecticut College Men Defeats No. 28 Wesleyan, 5–4

In a rivalry that has seen its fair share of close finishes, Sunday’s clash between Wesleyan and Connecticut College added another to the docket. The visiting Camels (No. 29) upset the 28th ranked Cardinals on their home courts, securing a massive momentum building win before the winter break.

Camels Sweep the Top
Connecticut College set the tone by sweeping the top three positions. Henry Pelletier (#1), Adam Elkaliouby (#2), and Siddhant Rewari (#3) were clinical for the visitors, all securing 3–0 victories.

Cardinals Control the Middle
Wesleyan had strength in the middle of the lineup, highlighted by the match of the day at the No. 4 position. Wesleyan’s Harrison Tillinghast and Conn College’s Noah Fish engaged in a marathon battle lasting over an hour. After trading games to reach 2–2, Tillinghast edged out a nail-biting 11–9 victory in the fifth.

The Cardinals also picked up wins at No. 5 from Zachary Lu (3–0) and No. 6 from Matthyaz Williams (3–1).

Depth Proves the Difference
While Wesleyan found success with wins from Finn Goodson (#9) and Luke Wilson (#10), Connecticut College secured critical points needed for the team victory at positions #7 and #8.

Arman Sana (#8) delivered a clean 3–0 win, and Hayden Okurowski (#7) battled to a four-game victory over Zachary Idinopulos (11-7, 9-11, 9-11, 5-11). Those performances proved to be the difference-makers, allowing the Camels to clinch the 5–4 upset.
