Varsity

  • No. 1 Harvard beat No. 2 Penn in the CSA Men’s Match of the Week on Sunday afternoon in Boston. In a close match up between the top teams in men’s college squash, the teams tied it up a 4-4. While Harvard’s No. 4 player dropped the first two games in the deciding match, he fought back through the end. Despite early leads for Penn and several match balls for the Quakers in the final two matches, Harvard rallied for the 5-4 victory. This ended Penn’s 11-0 win streak this season with only 6 games lost. Harvard remains undefeated at 9-0.
  • No. 4 Princeton upset No. 3 Drexel in the CSA Women’s Match of the Week on Wednesday evening in Princeton. Princeton came out strong and took the first 3 matches to start off the contest. Unfortunately, Drexel was missing their No. 4 player, forcing their lineup to shift up, allowing Princeton to sweep the middle and bottom of the ladder. Drexel heads into the MASC championship sitting at 7-2 while Princeton heads into another heavy week of Ivy League matches at 5-1.
  • The No. 1 Trinity women defeated No. 3 Drexel in a close 5-4 battle. All tied up at 4-4, the No. 2 players fought in a deciding 3-2 match. Top-ranked Trinity remains undefeated at 10-0 taking wins against Cornell and Columbia in the same week.
  • No. 6 Cornell women upset No. 5 Yale in a thrilling 5-4 match. While Yale dominated the bottom of the ladder with wins at 7,8 and 9, Cornell’s strength at the top of the ladder was unmatched. Tied up at 4-4, the deciding match came down to the No. 6 player. Yale took the first 2 sets of games, but Cornell came back to secure the 3-2 win. This is Cornell’s first win against Yale since 2001 and only the program’s second-ever win over Yale.
  • The No. 15 Williams men took down No. 14 Tufts at home in their biggest match of the season yet. The Ephs won several crucial 5 game matches to bring home the 5-4 victory.
  • No. 22 Middlebury beat No. 19 Amherst in its final match of the regular season. The Panthers took wins at the 1,2,3,5, and 7 positions ultimately upsetting Amherst 5-4.

Club Teams

  • The Jesters hosted four teams in the Cincinnati round robin this past weekend. Indiana University, Notre Dame, Kenyon College and Xavier University all participated in successful matches. The finals, between Indiana and Notre Dame, resulted in a 7-2 victory for Indiana.
  • Women’s club teams Boston College and Northeastern University matched up yesterday evening. Boston College swept the top and middle of the ladder and took home the 7-2 win.
