  • Columbia’s teams were involved in four of the most intriguing matchups of the weekend, all at home. After both the men and women fell into 4-2 holes against Drexel on Friday evening, both teams bounced back to win 5-4, with the men’s match being a small upset. League rival Cornell came to the Big Apple on Sunday, and their men found the winning formula to capture their own 5-4 upset. The Columbia women, however, held on for their second 5-4 victory of the weekend.
  • Things almost went according to ranking in Virginia with UVA hosting Dartmouth, Franklin & Marshall, Georgetown women, and MIT men. It was the No. 16 Franklin & Marshall men who bucked the trend and took down Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference (MASC) rival MIT by a 5-4 score, a win which should put the Diplomats on more sure footing in the Top 16.
  • NESCAC regular season conference play kicked into full gear with several matches on the docket this weekend:

    • The Trinity teams went 6-0 in their swing through Maine against Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby
    • Hamilton swept Wesleyan during a multi-match weekend which also included a Liberty League crossover with St. Lawrence and Hobart & William Smith
  • The annual tri-match between Connecticut College, Haverford, and Vassar in Poughkeepsie went mostly according to rankings, but the Haverford men snuck by Conn College for their own small upset.
  • Other notable varsity results include Rochester falling at home on consecutive days to Penn and Princeton and the St. Lawrence teams sweeping their weekend of play.
  • Club team play was limited this weekend, but University of Michigan and New York University grabbed the headlines with victories over the varsity opponents Denison and Fordham, respectively. Both teams added another victory each to complete successful 2-0 weekends. Boston University’s men’s team won the battle of Beantown against crosstown rival Boston College.
