University of Pennsylvania: 2021-2022 Season Preview

University of Pennsylvania Quakers

2021-2022 SEASON PREVIEW

  • The last time a large group of CSA players were competing against each others was at Penn’s new facility for the 2020 National Collegiate Individual Championships, and the men’s teams will reconvene at that beautiful venue for the Team Championships in mid-February.
  • 2020 was a banner year for Penn Men’s Squash, finishing as runner-up to national champion Harvard and winning the Sloane Award for team sportsmanship along the way. Despite the pandemic, or perhaps because of it, momentum has flowed into this season when the men’s team will be one of the favorites to clinch the overall title.
  • The Penn women will be a youthful squad this year with no seniors on the roster and only five returning starters from two seasons ago. They will rely on a deep lineup of new players to maintain their standing as a Top-8 program in a challenging women’s league.

Jack Wyant’s Quote: “With no seniors on our roster, we hope to establish a solid foundation with our returning juniors and a strong class of Freshman and Sophomore recruits who add depth to our line up.”
Gilly Lane’s Quote: “The 2019-2020 season was an incredible season for our program. After having a season off due to Covid, we are looking to try and continue our momentum from that season. We have a tough schedule ahead this year and I am excited to see how the team progresses after a year off.”
