Bard: 2016 – 2017 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Bard College Annandale-on-Hudson, NY — In his second season as the head coach at Bard, Craig Thorpe-Clark guided the Raptors to a 11-8 record. Previously, the program’s record for victories in a season was 8. The team was recognized for their sportsmanship by being named the recipient of last season’s Sloane Award. Thorpe-Clark wants to “build on the momentum and improvement from last year’s season and continue to improve on a daily basis, keeping up the intensity in our practices and match play.” In the fall, the team traveled to Philadelphia to volunteer with SquashSmarts and to watch the U.S. Open. Thorpe-Clark, who was recently elevated from a part-time to  full-time position with Bard athletics, helped Bard secure its first Liberty League tournament victory with a win over nearby Vassar. Abe Etkin will serve as captain of the Raptors. Over the summer, Etkin interned at CitySquash, an experience that included on court coaching and teaching. With the loss of only two players from last season and the addition of six players, look for the Raptors to pick up where they left off last season.
