Cornell: 2016 – 2017 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Cornell University Ithaca, NY — With the graduation of a sole player from last year’s starting line-up at the 2016 Women’s College Squash Association National Team Championships, Cornell appears poised to maintain their position in the Howe Cup. There is one substantial change to the Big Red program. After twelve seasons with Cornell, head coach Julee Devoy has left the program. The new coach will have big shoes to fill. Devoy made the Big Red a consistent top-8 performer during her tenure. With a plethora of teams, including Columbia, Dartmouth, Drexel, Brown, and Williams, attempting to move into the Howe Cup this season, the Big Red will need to stay sharp. Leading the team will be co-captains Sydney Francis and Rachel Scherman. The experienced ladder and the addition of three talented first-year students should assist Cornell as it enters the season under a new coach. Look for the Big Red to be in the lower half of the Howe Cup this season.
