Hatfield, MA — For the week ending 2/14/2016, Dartmouth’s Lydie McKenzie and Cornell’s Graham Dietz have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].

A [hpow] should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players.

Lydie McKenzie (Dartmouth College): Last Wednesday, Dartmouth visited Williams. The two teams were tied at 4-4 with only the #4s left to play. Dartmouth’s senior captain Lydie McKenzie faced William’s Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra. After winning the first two games, McKenzie lost the third game. The fourth game took extra points, but McKenzie prevailed to win the individual (11-5, 11-3, 7-11, and 13-11) and team match for the Big Green.

Graham Dietz (Cornell University): In Ithaca on Sunday, Cornell faced Penn. It was senior day for the Big Red and senior captain Graham Dietz faced Penn’s George Lemmon in the match at the #7 position. With the teams tied at 4-4, the pair played a four-game match, which Dietz won (11-6, 7-11, 11-7, and 11-8). This individual win clinched the team victory for Cornell. On the weekend, Dietz also had victories against F&M’s Jack McCord (12-10, 11-6, 6-11, and 11-7) and Princeton’s William Oon (11-8, 11-6, and 13-11).
