2015 – 2016 Rule Updates: All-American Rules

In late September, the College Squash Association updated a number of rules. This article is the third in a series highlighting the 2015-16 rule changes.

College Squash AssociationHatfield, MA — The College Squash Association’s All-American rules have been updated.

The competition requirements and the hardship waiver sections of the All-American rules remained unchanged. Unless a hardship waiver is granted, men’s and women’s players must compete in at least 50% of their team’s matches and compete in the Individual Championships in order to be considered for All-American status.

For the men, the criteria for placement on the First or Second teams were modified.

A position on the men’s First Team will be awarded if either following criteria are met:

  • Ranked 1st – 4th in the final regular season individual rankings
  • Top-10 finish at the Individual Championships

A position on the men’s Second Team is awarded to players who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Ranked 5th – 10th in the final regular season individual rankings
  • Finished 11th – 16th at the Individual Championships
  • Winners of each of the four draws for positions 17 – 64 at the Individual Championships

Men’s players who meet the qualifications for both the First and Second Teams will be named to the First Team All-American squad.

For the women, the requirements remain that in the rankings following the Individual Championships, the top ten players are named to the First Team, while players ranked 11 – 20 are named to the Second Team. With the draw of the Ramsay Cup (A Draw) at the Individual Championships being reduced to 16 players, the winners of each of the four other draws at the tournament will be named Second Team All-Americans.
