Northampton, MA — For the week ending 1/29/2012, Mount Holyoke’s Kathryn Brummer and Conn College’s Caleb Garza have been named the women’s and men’s [hpow].

A Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players by contacting Michael T. Bello. Nominations are due each Monday by 6 PM ET.

Kathryn Brummer (Mount Holyoke College): At the Maine Event, the Mount Holyoke junior captain went 4-0. She recorded 3-0 victories at the #6 position against Bowdoin’s Sara Wlodarczyk, George Washington’s Tiffany Hingley, and Colby’s Elizabeth Brehman. Against Bates, the Lyons’ sole team loss of the weekend, Brummer defeated the Bobcats’ Chloe Mitchell, which included a thrilling 11-9 victory in the 5th game (6-11, 3-11, 11-7, 11-9, and 11-9).

Caleb Garza (Conn College): Playing number 1 for Conn College, Garza, the Camels’ junior captain, went 3-0 on the weekend with victories over Fordham, Columbia, and Middlebury. Against Columbia and Middlebury, he won two four-game matches against the Lions’ Graham Miao (9-11, 11-7, 11-4, and 11-6) and the Panthers’ Valentin Quan (9-11, 11-6, 11-4, and 12-10). On the weekend, the Camels’ sole team victory was against Fordham.
