Hadley, MA — In March, the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its 2010-2011 women’s All-Conference squash teams.
For the second year in a row, a Trinity player garnered the Player of the Year honors. Catalina Pelaez finished her first season of collegiate play with a 14-3 regular season record. She was ranked 4th in the nation as an individual player, making it to the quarter-finals of the Individual Championships. She helped the Bantams win their fifth consecutive NESCAC championship and achieve a fourth-place finish in the Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup).
Pelaez was also named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year.
Two other Trinity players earned First-Team honors: senior Pamela Hathway, the 2010 NESCAC Player of the Year, and first-year Jennifer Pelletier. Joining the three Bantams on the first team were Bates’s Cheri-Ann Parris; Bowdoin’s Lauren Gesswein; Colby’s Kate Pistel; Middlebury’s Elena Laird and Abby Jenkins; and Williams’ Courtney Bogle and Laura Henry. Parris was the 2010 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and she, Bogle, Gesswein, Hathway, Laird, and Pistel have all earned all-conference honors in the past. Bogle, a junior, has been selected to the First Team three years in a row. Gesswein, a senior, earned all-conference honors in each of her four years of intercollegiate play.
Hamilton coach Jamie King was named Coach of the Year. The Continentals were the finalists in the Walker Cup (C Division) at the Women’s National Team Championships, narrowly losing to Franklin & Marshall 5-4. King’s team also received the 2011 Chaffee Award for team sportsmanship, one of the CSA’s major team awards.
