2011 Men’s College Squash Video: Potter Cup – Princeton and Yale #2s

Cambridge, MA — At the 2011 Men’s College Squash National Team Championships, Yale and Princeton played in the semifinals of the Potter Cup (“A” Division).

The match at the number two position featured two senior captains: Yale’s Naishadh Lalwani and Princeton’s David Letourneau.

Despite losing the first two games of the match, Letourneau rebounded to defeat Lalwani in five games (10-12, 9-11, 11-4, 11-4, and 11-6). During the regular season and team championships, Letourneau did not lose an individual match.  At the award ceremony later that day, Letourneau was presented with the Skillman Award, which is given to the squash player who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during his entire college career.

Lalwani also had an impressive college squash career.  In early February, Yale and Princeton were tied 4-4 going into the final match. Lalwani defeated Peter Sopher to propel the Bulldogs to a 5-4 victory. Like Letourneau, Lalwani earned All-American honors this season.

In the end, Yale defeated Princeton, 7-2, to advance to the National Championship match. Princeton defeated Rochester to finish third in the season-ending rankings.

Below is a game from the middle of the five-game match between Lalwani and Letourneau.
