Colgate: 2009 – 2010 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

colgateHamilton, NY — For the past seven seasons, Colgate has consistently finished ranked in the low-to-mid thirties. After finishing 31st last season, the Raiders want to make it into the top thirty and finish with their team’s highest ranking ever.

While Colgate will lose two players from its 2008-2009 National Team Championships roster — number 3 Matt Bloch and number 8 Todd Goldman — seniors John Williams and Johnny Russell will join the team. Williams is expected to compete for a spot in the middle of the ladder, and Russell should play number 2. Russell will also serve as team captain along with fellow senior Rob McCary, who trained in Amsterdam for a month in June. The team expects to have several first-year players join as well.

Australia’s Bradley Hindle, the 65th-ranked player in the world, plans to guest coach at Colgate for several weeks in the fall. The additional coaching should be useful when Colgate plays rival Hamilton, a top thirty team.
